Latest Update - Perhentian Diving

After weeks of excellent weather, monsoon returned with a vengeance last week.  A typical occurrence, before leaving for good, monsoon-like weather (strong waves and tropical rainstorm) often resurfaced for 4-5 days.  Started last Friday, boat services were halted due to rough seas, sending Kuala Besut jetty at a standstill.  However, inclement weather did not stop visitors from boarding the only mode of transportation – a big wooden fishing boat, to transport them to the island – we were among the lucky few. 

Braving the rough South China Sea, we were determined not to let mother nature dampened our spirits and enthusiasm.  Arrived on our serene beach of Teluk Dalam safe and sound, we are working hard to get Alu Alu Divers ready to open its doors.

Come rain or shine, Alu Alu Divers will be open for business on Valentine’s Day – 14^th Feb. 

Perhentian diving season is officially open– a few dive operators have already scheduled dive trips around the island.  We were told underwater visibility was not great – around +/- 5m but should improve dramatically over the next few weeks.  If experience thought us a thing or two, visibility should be around 10-15m by mid Feb to early March. As we are sensitive to our divers’ needs, opening early (while good for business) will not do Perhentian’s diving justice.  It is better to be “late” than disappointing our divers with poor quality diving.  Sometimes in life, a little bit of patience goes a long way!

We welcome new additions to our crew this year.  Joe Affandi, a veteran of Perhentian waters, is our new manager/instructor.  Joe is rated PADI Staff Instructor  and SSI DCSI (DiveCon Scuba Instructor) is joined by Tristan Webb – a veteran in Alu Alu.  Tristan joined Alu Alu crew on our first year of operation, came back after a year hiatus, to beautiful Perhentian waters.  Like most visitors/divers, Tris can’t get enough of Perhentian’s beauty- both above and underwater.  This year, Tristan will be our in-house videographer – now, you can both learn underwater videography or get him to record your dive holiday – a little something to bring home to show your friends and family!

It will be a fantastic season this year.  Don’t take our word for it… seeing is truly believing.
