Pulau Perhentian comprises of two beautiful islands: Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Island) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (small island). Both islands are surrounded by beautiful palm-fringed powdery white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise-blue sea. Rated as one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Perhentian is blessed with crystal clear water perfect for nature worshippers, scuba divers and snorkelers.

Located in the South China Sea off the coast of Kuala Besut, Terengganu (on Malaysia's east coast), Perhentian Island was once a thriving trade route for merchants and seafarers. As trade activities increased, the island is known as a "Stop-Over" place enroute to the busier ports of the South China Sea. Hence, the name "Pulau Perhentian" is Malay for "Stop-Over" Island.

All manner of aquatic life is visible both near and far from the beach such as turtles, sharks, coral and thousands of tropical fish. The interior of the island is covered by jungle with a wide variety of species. You can watch monitor lizards, monkeys, geckos, flying squirrels, butterflies and many other types - sometimes right in front of your chalet. There are no roads found on the island, the means of transportation is still like it was hundred of years ago - by the sea. As such, Perhentian Island remains pristine and relatively untouched. A true tropical island paradise!
